Company
Sumo Logic (NSDQ: SUMO) democratizes machine data. They’re putting the power of machine data analytics in the hands of everyone by unifying all data types, enabling universal access and leveraging cloud economics — all from a single, cloud-native, continuous intelligence platform delivered and consumed as true SaaS. Why does that matter? The shift to cloud is creating a data tsunami, increasing complexity and risk. The future of business will be won by companies who can make decisions in real-time and old analytics tools can’t keep up, creating the conditions for a new entrant.
Sumo Logic was founded by a team of security and big data experts in 2010. In September 2020 they IPO’d after raising $340m from a selection of the funds we support (Accel, DFJ, Sequoia, Sapphire and Battery).
Search Background
Now at the $200m plus ARR mark, SUMO was setting out the growth plan to $500m and beyond, and required a thought partner on the board who had been on a similar revenue journey and commercial context within the devops ecosystem for maximum impact of experience.
There was also a desire to continue to build diversity of thought into the team so Erevena, in partnership with ALLRaise, was selected to execute the search.
Requirements
Whilst burgeoning as a market now, there are still relatively few devops companies who have scaled beyond SUMO logic to pick from and of those companies, a scarce number of product shaped executives who are from under-represented backgrounds (non-white males).
Result
Erevena is deeply embedded into this community and performed a sweep of a very select target audience and were delighted to recruit Margaret, COO of Armory and formerly SVP Product with Heroku whom she accompanied on the $15 to 450m revenue journey and acquisition by Salesforce.

CEO
Sumo Logic is positioned at the intersection of digital transformation, cloud computing and cyber security. Our growth strategy requires us to attract the best and brightest at every level of our organization. That’s why we partnered with Erevena to expand the team. They share our belief in the importance of an experienced and diverse Board to help navigate high growth. And as important, Erevena quickly understood our business and what we at Sumo needed and set out to help us add a force multiplier in Margaret to the board.
