Company
Nutmeg is a Series D online investment management platform who have raised over $150m to date, with investors including Balderton and Goldman Sachs. They were founded by Nick Hungerford in 2011, with the mission of democratizing wealth management, and now count 65,000 customers and over £1.5 billion of assets under management, making them one of the fastest growing wealth managers in the UK, and the largest digital wealth manager in Europe.
Search Background
Erevena first started working with Nutmeg when they were a Series A business, helping to build out their first executive team. We placed Martin Stead, then CRO, now CEO into the business, alongside Group CFO and CTO, and so were well placed to help with this search, which was a newly created Chief Customer Officer role, to own the customer journey in its entirety across marketing, commercial product and customer operations.
Requirements
The challenge was that this role owned multiple disciplines and had a large operational and leadership remit running a team of around 40 (30% of Nutmeg’s total workforce). Whilst it was essential that this individual deeply understood marketing and product, they also needed to be an experienced leader. The preference was also for somebody with some experience in a regulated business.
Result
Following an extensive search, Lisa Rodwell was appointed as Chief Customer Officer. She had previously been CEO of Wool and the Gang and Chief Revenue Officer of Moo.com and latterly had been part of the team at Starling Bank on an interim basis.

CEO, Nutmeg
Erevena has been a trusted adviser and partner to Nutmeg for a number of years on senior level appointments. Maria, Sam and team have always gone the extra mile to understand our needs, help us to understand the landscape and various trade-offs we can make, and then present a number of high-quality candidates. The search for our first CCO was no exception and we were delighted to find Lisa who was a brilliant fit to our brief, and who has settled well into Nutmeg!
