Following a successful Seed Round led by Anthemis Ventures and the generation of double-digit revenue figures, Chronomics was looking to further build out its leadership in engineering. More specifically, the team at Chronomics were growing their engineering team rapidly to further develop their tech-first platform; from sampling through a range of collection methods, to data analytics and results playback.
Requirements
Given Chronomics’ ambitious growth targets, the team sought a VP of Engineering to report into the CEO and operate as a peer to the CTO as the business navigates the next phase of its journey. One of the main areas of focus was to build and scale the engineering team from 10 to over 100, and the incoming VP of Engineering needed to possess the flexibility to deep-dive with the existing team to build credibility from a technical standpoint, as well as setting up the structures and processes for scale.
Result
Erevena found and placed Luis Andani, who was a Senior Director of Engineering responsible for the Consumer Tribes at HelloFresh, having grown a team of 20 engineers to 120 across multiple locations. In this role, he led the development of a platform focusing on price-related experimentation and another experimentation platform that would tailor recipe recommendations to customer preferences. His additional experience of having optimized supply chain operations at HelloFresh meant Luis was the perfect fit for Chronomics due to the combination of technical relevance, experience in D2C businesses with a strong logistical component and scaling knowledge.
